SCHMOLL MX 1-24 CCD

The Productronica Fair 2005 was to solve our demands for a new drilling machine. We visited KLG, Schmoll, Lenz, Pluritec, Posalux and finally Mania. After the fair we contacted the above mentioned producers by mail. Schmoll Maschinenn GmbH was the first one to answer and offered the best SCHMOLL MX 1-21 CCD machine as well.

Mr.Wernfried Maly from the austrian service center Impex installed the machine.
The most impressive function is the CCD measuring system.
During locating the video system is operated by an independent PC.
Visible marks: after laminating 3- or simple 4- layer PCBs becomes the edge of the layer IN1 visible again. The camera system compares the numerical position of the centering marks with their actual position as seen by the camera. According to the differences the drill coordinates are recalculated. The measuring and the calculation take only several seconds and thus it completely eliminates the shrinking of the inner layer IN1.

The invisible marks: precize 4-layer PCBs are recalculated differently. Apart from the numerical position of the centering marks their depth is also declared. The machine searches with a 5 mm drill for these 1x7 mm marks. The drill is at first selfcalibrated on the PCB, its cutting angle is inspected by a video and the optimal depth for the following searching drills is calculated. Searching for IN1 it drills this layer particulary away and the above mentioned special etched cross marks are particulary opened and measured. The following layer marks in IN2 /IN3….etc./ are evaluated similarly. These are measured in all four corners of the PCB. As above the differences are recalculated and the drill coordinates are positioned in the optimal place on the PCB. This measuring takes about 1.5 min but compared to the previous registration method it speeded the work many times.
In this manner we produced 8-layer PCBs for Cern. Using this machine saved us a lot of time and improved the precision of the production.

After very good experience we contacted SCHMOLL Co. once again in 2007 and bought a second machine. It was delivered in April, 2007. We are proud owners of two MX 1-24 CCD.
